A rock chipped your windshield…now what?

There is nothing more frustrating when traveling our beautiful North Dakota roadways and rock jumps up and hits your windshield. After the shock and surprise wear off, it is disheartening to see the small chip the collision created.

If you carry comprehensive coverage on your vehicle, we can assure you need not worry! The pesky rock chip can be repaired at no cost to you!

If a windshield chip occurs, here are a couple of steps you should do immediately:

• Call 800-42 Nodak (800-426-6325) and report the incident to our Glass Call Center. It will help if you have your policy number handy.
• The call center will give you a referral number you can take to the auto glass shop of your choice. If you don’t have a shop in mind, the Call Center can refer you to a vendor in your area.
• Make arrangements to get the chip repaired as soon as possible. This will stop the chip from spreading into a crack requiring the entire windshield to be replaced.

Not only does the chip repair save you money, it also has benefits you may not have considered:

• Repairing the windshield keeps the original manufacturer’s seal which maintains the standards set for occupant safety. If you have a vehicle with lane deviation, rain sensing, or other similar features, chip repair will keep those working without any issue.
• It is the green thing to do! Windshields are not able to be recycled, and therefore, repairing them will keep it out of the landfill.

Nodak Insurance Company allows up to three chips to be repaired on one claim. You may need to look at additional claims or replacement of the windshield if you exceed that amount. Talk to your glass shop professional if simple repairs are not going to work for you.
